Greetings from Lancaster!
It feels like things have been fairly quiet this month.
Tim has been continuing to prepare for starting his new role with Eurasia helping with security, contingency planning and risk assessment. Part of this has been watching a lot of news to get more familiar with the challenges in the parts of the world that he will be covering. Much of it makes for sobering viewing. We choose to remember that God is sovereign and will bring justice while we work out the consequences of living in a broken world.
Ali is getting deeper into understanding the role of an Ethnologue editor and what that is likely to look like. We are currently preparing for the publication of the next edition, due out on Mother Language Day, Feb 21. This involves an awful lot of behind the scenes technical work to take the information from a complex relational database and turn it into something publishable on a website and in hard copy. Definitely stretching!
Dan has settled back into life at home and has made great progress in several areas. He is now meeting regularly with a counsellor provided by Wycliffe UK for whom we are very grateful! Please pray that Newcastle Uni will look with favour on Dan’s application to start back to Uni in Sept this year. But most of all, pray that God’s will will be done whatever that looks like.
There is a significant change in progress in SIL. We have a new Executive Director getting ready to take the reins. We are delighted that this is Johnstone Ndunde! We had the pleasure of interacting with him during our time in Nigeria while he was the Director of SIL’s Anglo-Lusophone Africa Area. A new Executive Director is likely to result in some changes to SIL’s approach and structures so we are keen to see how this is likely to affect things.
Prayer
Favour for Dan with Newcastle Uni
Clear thinking and focus for Ali as she learns many new things!
Clear understanding and communication as Tim’s new role is put together.
Praise
Enjoying having Dan around more
Appointment of Johnstone Ndunde
